“I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me”

After reading the side of this particular pencil sharpener, God’s word came to mind.

“Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the LORD Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. “  Deuteronomy 4:39  (emphasis added)

I am Other is a brand of school supplies and materials found at places like Target and elsewhere online.   Here is the website manifesto.   (I want to make it clear that this post is not about a fault with school supplies or educational materials.)  However, I do want to point out a possible mixed message the label attached might be sending.

Back to God’s word.

“I am the LORD, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me…

That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other;
 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things.”    Isaiah 45:5-7  (emphasis added)

Now I do not know if Pharrell Williams who is behind this organization knew about what God said or not but I do know the name he chose sends a message to youth and consumers who buy the products.  His website makes the following statements:

“OTHERS believe individuality is the new wealth. Experiences are the new assets to acquire. Whoever is the most individual wins.”

“i am OTHER celebrates people who push society forward. The thinkers. The innovators. The outcasts. History has proven that it’s the rule breakers who have the power to change the world.”

What’s Your Worldview?

Whether people will publicly admit it or not, the worldview that “anything except God” is becoming more prevalent and acceptable in today’s world.  What about God’s way?  Whether Mr. Williams knows it or not his brand is pushing a message that self is better then God.  A Biblical Godly worldview has been replaced by a “self serving” worldview and is actually being pushed on us by everyone from companies such as Target, to online entities such and Yahoo and Google. Question.  Would such a company  “accept” clothing or school materials in their store that glorified the God of the Bible rather than us?   I think we know the answer.

I am interested in your thoughts.  If you have seen or bought school supplies and/or brands glorifying the God of the Bible in store from places such as Target, please let me know!
