Why I Left Twitter

smartphone-586944_1280

Why Leave Twitter?

A couple of years ago I couldn’t wait to check my Twitter account to see what new “followers” had followed me the night before and to read any new comments from “so-and-so”.  And no, I don’t mean from Donald Trump.  As the comments and one-liners would rapidly appear I would scroll the feed only to be greeted by hundreds more comments I must’ve missed.  The daily routine of reading comments, (many duplicated and automated) and posting comments never ended until the day I finally left Twitter.  And why did I stop using Twitter?

So Many People Want to be Followed

The answer is quite simple but first some background.  Users of Twitter know that one purpose of the app is to gain followers and in turn follow others.  And so after months of using Twitter I like many others did just that until one day it dawned on me that it’s humanly impossible to actually read a thousand plus comments from people you are “following” let alone be excepted to respond to all those folks.  When I figured that out I felt as if I had been let down by Twitter.  I had high hopes for creating an empire of real people followers who cared about my content but so does most everyone else.  For me, the hype and appeal of what I thought Twitter might be was simply lost.  I was disappointed to learn that comments I sent out to people who had followed me couldn’t possibly be seen if they already had 1 million followers they were trying to track!

Content Fakery

With all this following and being followed going on I was getting a little dizzy.  And then I noticed another disappointing trend occurring on Twitter.  I know this because I did it. Since people have real lives, many of those comments and links I was reading were actually being automated each day and being posted by someone else!  I soon learned that much of the content on Twitter is a canned advertisement or message that had been planned out days and weeks in advance!  Oh the devastation!  So the question is, why would I want to read an automated message I had already read the day before and the day before that?  Well I didn’t and so I would simply hide the people who posted it.  And so I expect, if I was hiding people, other people where hiding people and so on.  But what’s the point in that?  Well I don’t see any good point really unless you think it’s great to follow and be followed by thousands and thousands of people who probably will never know you exist.

The Famous Person Bandwagon

Now the second problem I have with Twitter is what I call the famous person bandwagon. I am not remotely famous (or wish to be) nor do I wish to follow famous people.  Of course it wasn’t always this way.  In the beginning I was happy to part of the famous person bandwagon and it was fun.  I use to “follow” famous people and at the same time I wanted to see how many followers I could get too. That is until I realized unless you are already a well-known person not many people even know or care that you posted that clever comment to Twitter.  So again I don’t understand the appeal of Twitter unless it’s your business to know about famous people or you yourself are famous and Twitter makes you feel macho.  (With the exception of Donald Trump because he is already macho and the Left apparently can’t stand it.)

However, like Facebook, I decided to jump off the Twitter bandwagon and say bye-bye to the endless (and sometimes mindless) feed of automated one liners and links that so pervasively permeate the app known as Twitter.

Why I Left Facebook

facebook-257829_1280

Facebook Routine

For many people in life, connecting to people is essential to their well-being and Facebook is a big part of that sense of well-being.  Facebook is a routine like brushing ones teeth on a daily basis.  For me it was no different. A year ago I was so close to my Facebook and friends from other places (many of whom I did not know or know very well) that it began to become a problem.  You ask how so? How could connecting with a friend be a problem?  And to answer that question we must know why I left Facebook.

How do you compare?

As most people who use Facebook already know, the application lets the user “share” pictures, videos, ideas, projects, opinions and basically their life (if they so choose) with anyone else who is allowed to become a “friend”.  (Anyone can become a friend which I also find kind of ironic because if you have never met someone in real life or even know them, how are they really a friend?)

Now I used Facebook in all the many popular ways of sharing this and that but the trouble started when I began to compare my life with other people’s lives.  In an attempt to minimize some comparing however, I would avoid viewing the “news” feeds from some people while viewing only the ones I cared about.  But in the end I was still feeling dissatisfied.  For me Facebook was like that. Using Facebook was an exercise in dissatisfaction because other people where doing things and making things go and enjoying life while I was just……there I go comparing again. And Facebook made it easy. Facebook not only made it easy to compare but it also made it feel okay.  Now as a Christian I should know better.

Facebook Bias

Facebook has been known to favor the left in America.  They are not favorable to Christians or Conservatives either.  Their philosophy simply rubs me the wrong way.  Another reason I don’t want to use Facebook.

Gossip

Did I mention the gossip aspect of Facebook?  In my opinion Facebook is a breeding ground for gossip whether it’s about truth or lies, gossip is everywhere on Facebook.  Since each user of Facebook is at liberty to post nearly anything that comes to mind, it’s anyone’s guess what might be said.  And when whatever it may be (good or bad) is said and is posted publicly, potentially hundreds of people (and probably more) have instantaneous knowledge of those intricate details. This information can be anything, whether it’s personal, funny, disgusting or sensitive, it’s all apparently fair game on Facebook.  And whatever it maybe that’s said or posted, everyone who’s a friend of a friend of a friend (of a friend) now knows.  I think you get my point. Sometimes this knowledge is helpful while other times it may do more damage than help.  And so my belief has been that if a person is not able to face the person and say it, then it probably shouldn’t be said on Facebook, especially if it’s not private.  And let us not neglect to mention what people post about themselves.  On Facebook it would seem just about anything goes and we all their to see it (or read it).  And so to avoid being caught up in any Facebook frenzies over words and pictures, I decided it was best for me to leave Facebook–before I said something publicly I might regret.  (That is why I post it on a blog……heh heh)

Addiction

Of course Facebook doesn’t have to be all about comparing ones life with another or sharing our lives publicly but I have since learned there is also an addiction aspect.  Personally I did not like the feeling I having each day that I must know what others are doing, saying, posting or thinking at any given moment and that they would gladly share it with everyone!  Pieces of their lives (and my own) were showing up in the “news” feed 24 hours a day.  It’s true, I am for the most part a private person but with Facebook, I felt the constant urge to tell all those “friends” what I think.  After all, they posted what they posted because they wanted my response, right? Here’s the best part. If your post is cute, disgusting, awesome, stupid or clever enough it might even get a like and a re-post! The cycle of feeling the need to know and feeling the need to share opinions and pictures never ends on Facebook.  And so after one year of feeling stuck inside the Facebook hamster wheel I finally made the plunge to leave Facebook for good (hopefully).

Now I beg someone to hit me over the head with a large brick if I ever join Facebook again. (not really….just use a board)

If you enjoyed this post, please like and comment below!  Oh, wait.  This isn’t Facebook but feel free to comment anyways.

Calling out the 7 politicians who have joined the Democrat Party to Protect the Swamp

1024px-Capitol-Senate

Seven More Obstructionists Vote to Protect the Swamp

There are seven Republicans politicians who have voted to preserve Obamacare.  These seven republicans are Senators Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.; Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.; Susan Collins, R-Maine; Dean Heller, R-Nev.; John McCain, R-Ariz.; Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; and Rob Portman, R-Ohio.  These seven Senators have voted with Democrats to keep a failing system failing.  You may have heard that President Trump has likened Washington DC. to a swamp filled with corrupt political operatives who would rather keep their job than do what is right for Americans.  This swamp includes any person especially in a leadership role who will not stand up to defend the innocent, justice and God’s law.

Attempting to Remove God

It is no secret that Democrats do not believe in the protecting and defending of God’s law and biblical values.   Instead they don’t believe in defending the innocent but made the decision to  remove God from their party platform.  Simply put, modern-day Democrats believe in extreme government control, taking away biblical standards and replacing those standards with anything that is contrary to God.  The seven Republicans who have voted with the Democrats in obstructing Donald’s Trumps plan to move the country forward are really not Republicans.  We know they are Republicans in name only and it appears they are more interested in protecting the swamp and corrupt political climate of Washington, DC.

Accountability and Prediction

Any person, Republican or Democrat who will not vote to defend good policies which actually help Americans rather than hurt and make things worse does not deserve a place in government.   Simply put, we the people must ignore the party letter besides a political leaders name or even what they say but see how they vote.  The Democrat party has grown by at least seven members and unfortunately for Americans (and the world), will only prove to hurt Americans further.

A World Without Facebook: Will You Be Ready If (and when) the Lights Go Out?

online-942405_1920

Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Apple

If our world lost the ability to charge phones, iPads and other portable devices would you be ready?  If people no longer were able to sign-in to Facebook and connect to the internet, what would they do? In today’s modern 2017 world I hear no-one in the public eye discussing or addressing a plan for such an event.  Instead we see just the opposite.  The prominent companies Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft are leading the way to the cloud also known as internet dependency.  Yeah I made that term up but it’s true.  With the cloud, these big boy companies among others are seeking to take away the ability to keep files local (on the hard drive) such as application software and games.   While the cloud looks good now and is becoming the new norm,  I believe it will be the downfall of the internet that everyone seems to be ignoring.

A World Without Facebook

Think about this for a moment.  If we only have access to files on another computer via the internet, what happens when that internet access is removed?  Where will your cherished files and applications be? Right, stuck on another computer server in some distant land.  Will you be able to insert a disc or flash drive to continue using your app?  We used to be able to.  Will you be able to access your pictures anymore?  Will your game still be playable without an internet connection?

Now it’s true, if access to the cloud is no longer available we may well have bigger problems to consider but I digress.

However, with increasing dependency on the internet to be their, our communication as a whole without the access to it will also be limited.  And unless you have access to a generator, being without electricity will greatly hinder the ability to charge a cell phone, tablet or iPad device.

A big question to ask now is why the big companies like Apple, Google, Facebook and Microsoft don’t appear to care.   Just a thought.

The GTA 5, Donald Trump Conundrum

open-world

75 million plus people have played the game Grand Theft Auto 5.  Twenty-five million have purchased Grand Theft Auto 4. Judging from these numbers many people do not have a problem with the language vulgarities, excessive violence and disturbing sex that is featured in these games.  In fact to criticize these blatant gratuitous aspects of the game is asking for put-downs, name calling and more cursing from the criticizers themselves.

9296023134_3e48034e41

Enter Donald Trump.  I venture to say many of these same people hate or strongly dislike President Trump.  Why?  I do not know because it certainly cannot be for his offensive language, decisions, tweets, or even his personality.  Perhaps what is not liked is his desire for the restoration of law and order to our land after the lawlessness of the previous president.  Or perhaps what many of these millions of Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5 fans don’t like about Donald Trump is his moral stand to stop the murder of innocent babies.  Maybe still, what is so despised is Donald Trump’s relentless defense of the police and military while he seeks to uphold traditional Biblical values that our country was founded on.  Yep.  That must be it.  Show support and belief in Biblical values and the fan base of a game that glorifies vulgar behavior, rampant immorality and excessive violence against police will cry foul against you.  And it’s understandable because it’s exactly this kind of thing that Jesus said would happen over 2000 years ago (see John 15).  In the meantime, I will be looking for a game as massive in scale as Grand Theft Auto 5 with it’s beauty (scenery-wise) that instead glorifies the police and obeying the law.

Minnesota Undercover – A short story – Part One

Stone_Arch_Bridge_-_Minneapolis

Minnesota Undercover – Part One (of Ten)

Tim D. McConnaughy Jr.

“You can’t go that way,” he said.

The man was tall with black bushy hair and a five o’clock shadow that appeared to cover the bottom portion of his face. He was wearing a midnight blue sweater, light gray pants and dark colored loafers. He was yelling to a man running ahead of him.

The second man who appeared to be of Middle Eastern decent, was much shorter and faster. His bronze colored hair was partially concealed but he was wearing a little brown fedora with a pink feather. He had on long lightly colored khaki pants and a rainbow vertically striped shirt that appeared to look similar to a woman’s silk blouse.

Then things turned strange.

“It’s raining, it’s pouring the old man is snoring!” The bushy haired man began to sing. “We got our tickets, we got our tickets!” He sang with a sense of pride in his voice. The taller man had nearly caught up to the shorter man now.

Suddenly I watched as the shorter colorfully dressed man, abruptly stopped running, began to spin around 180 degrees and then proceeded to do a back-flip in the middle of the room. The man then picked up what looked to be a metallic designer-style briefcase that had apparently been laying on the floor nearby. Than as mysteriously as both men had appeared, they quickly vanished.

I knew something about this story wasn’t making sense and then it hit me, it must be a crazy dream. It was becoming difficult to tell what was real and what wasn’t. I decided to yell to see if I was awake. I tried to yell something out loud but nothing—no voice.

As if this already odd situation couldn’t get any stranger, it did.

Suddenly I began feeling cold……and wet, really wet. Rain? Yep, that must be it—it was raining and I was outside somewhere in the cold wet rain. But where was I and why couldn’t I speak? I wasn’t sure but what was clear was that the black pants I had been wearing were now beginning to stick to my legs and the blue pullover I had on appeared to be glued to my back. I was drenched.

Then I felt something wrapped around my neck. It must have been the strap from the bag I was intending to carry on the plane.

That’s it! Then I remembered, I was at the airport! Maybe things were going to start making sense again. My flight! I’m going to miss my flight! I tried to run but I couldn’t. I seemed to be stuck.

Then I heard what sounded like a man yelling.

“Keep going this way….” I heard the voice trail off for a moment……then it returned.

“They’re gonna end up in hell!”

Although I couldn’t see anyone, I heard another male voice further in the distance.

“C’mon, we gotta hurry!”

I wished the man would notice my predicament. This time I tried to scream, hoping to get someone’s—anyone’s attention. I opened my mouth to utter the word, help! I was certain my lips were moving but I still couldn’t hear my voice. Was I deaf? Couldn’t be, since I thought I had just heard a man yelling.

Then I heard a female voice close by. The voice was one of gentleness and sorrow yet she commanded authority.

“I’m sorry sir,” the women said, “but this ticket won’t get you to heaven. I am truly sorry.”

I heard a man respond, sounding agitated.

“There’s no way we’re going to hell, if hell doesn’t exist!”

This time I wanted to respond aloud. But what if it does? I thought.

Then I heard another male voice yell, “We got a fire here! There’s a fire!” he yelled.

At that moment what Jesus says concerning hell began to flood my thoughts. What if these people were not part of a dream at all? What if there was a fire and people were truly going to die?! I felt the need to warn them and tell them what God says.

Suddenly a surge of pain ran up my arm. It felt like my left arm was being ripped from its socket. Then I felt the surge of pain again—this time it was even stronger. The pain began to ricochet around my shoulder and back through my arm again. Just then my whole body felt like it had hit a concrete wall—and hard. I opened my eyes to see the leg of a chair next to my head. I seemed to be lying on the floor in a pool of water. Continue reading

The CNN Worldview and The Trump Bullies

U.S._Presidential_Candidate_Donald_Trump_and_his_daughter_Ivanka_in_September_2016

First, I voted for Ted Cruz in the 2016 Presidential election and I don’t hate Donald Trump.  Having got that out-of-the-way we can begin.

The definition of a bully as posted by Google is:

use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.
“a local man was bullied into helping them”
synonyms: persecute, oppress, tyrannize, browbeat, harass, torment, intimidate, strong-arm, dominate;

The following story is directly from CNN’s own website.

CNN: Bullying is a ‘serious public health problem,’ experts say

Fake News and Worldviews

Now let’s cut to the chase.  Perhaps CNN should take some of their own advice.  CNN fits the definition of a bully in their use of tactics against specific worldviews and groups of people. They have power and control and they know it. This is why organizations like CNN are so dangerous to the rest of us.

Is it not true that CNN and most media outlets have been using their medium in the attempt at persuading people to think like them?  Since the election of 2016 when their candidate lost (Hillary Clinton) we have seen nothing but an onslaught of slanderous attacks against the current President of the United States and his supporters. (Conversely we saw not much but praise, glee and swooning when Barrack Obama and Bill Clinton were president.) The last eight months have been nothing but the liberal media among others trying to take Trump and Republicans out–even if it means murder.

For example, we have all seen the manufactured Russia stories (aka fake news) that they had hoped (and still hope) would paint Mr. Trump in a negative light.  When that didn’t pan out they didn’t stop.  They didn’t speak out against the attempted murder of a Republican in the Senate.  They didn’t speak against the Kathy Griffin-Trump escapade, did they?  We have not seen many stories, if any about Hillary, Obama and their pre-election ties to Russia.  Where are the CNN news stories about Barrack Obama trying to influence the election in Israel against Benjamin Netanyahu?  Where is CNN’s outrage about Hillary Clinton and the murder in Benghazi? Is it okay to shred thousands of emails for a cover up? Apparently when it’s convenient. How about lying? Loretta Lynch? The Chicago murder rate increase under Obama? Where are CNN’s stack of stories against the tolerance of killing police officers regardless of their skin color? Does CNN show disgust breaking God’s law?

Ignorance is Bliss (when it’s morally inconvenient)

What we do see from CNN is the silence of or blatant denial of truth.  We have seen their attacks against Conservatives (just ask Sean Hannity) and people who actually care what God thinks.

Where are the articles from CNN and Yahoo news about why stopping illegal immigration is the right thing to do?  Perhaps these media front groups actually support illegal immigration?  Maybe CNN and the rest on the left actually support illegal immigration because it helps their own get votes.  American presidential candidates such as Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders come to mind. Wait.  Why does CNN and media outlets even have a candidate?  People can’t hide, they all support someone.  Our worldview dictates it.  It’s whether or not we support the right people or not that matters.

So as we’ve seen, intimidation is the go-to weapon of choice for large left leaning media front groups like CNN.  But these tactics of bullying and persuading through intimidation go far beyond Donald Trump and his supporters.  We especially see it used against people who claim to love the God of the Bible.  These tactics are used against all true conservative, the supporters of Donald Trump and overall the promoters of righteousness.

Hatred for God-fearing people

We see hatred for God-fearing people everyday.  Now how one reacts is a great indicator of ones worldview or belief system.  How they react and respond to people like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ted Cruz, Mark Levin, Newt Gingrich, Jesus Christ, Ray Comfort, Kelly Ann Conway, Herman Cain, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter and of course Donald Trump says all we need to know this media face.

Why does CNN dislike us?  Why does Hollywood hate us? Is it because we mistreat women?  Is it because Trump hates women?  If that were true than we should see CNN on the cutting edge in it’s telling of the truth about the treatment of women within the religion of peace.  How about in Hollywood?  Does CNN defend Hollywood’s vulgarities against women, Christians and God commonly found in movies and on TV?  Or does CNN and other media outlets look the other way and ignore it along with the lawlessness of the past administration?  If CNN truly cared about women and their well-being why would CNN support and defend Bill Clinton?  If CNN and others truly supported women, they would always promote women who believe in a strong family bond.  They would not support any idea or group that tears apart lives or brings immorality to its viewers.

If CNN and groups like it were in the business of reporting truth we should see story after story about the real Muhammad.  I dare CNN report about the real Islam as followed by Muhammad himself.  How about the persecution of Christians and others around the world?  I didn’t find this story on CNN, but Christians are the number one persecuted group in the world.  Will CNN and others report about who Jesus really is? About why He was murdered?  Will anybody with a mainstream voice?

Finally, due to the worldview of those involved,  I believe CNN (among others) are bullies with the sole intention of persuading people against the one true God. Jesus said some people will hate His followers because they hated Him first. (see John 15:18, Matt. 10:22)  These media bully outlets use their intolerant tactics against anyone who tries to speak the truth about the abuse and murder of Christians and others.  CNN could instead use their voice to persuade and show people the gruesome truth of abortion.

So do the people who make big decisions at CNN love God or do they love their god?  This is a great question for us all.

The gruff sounding cab driver was the first to respond.

“Uh, no… They’re saying the whole area is down. Both cities too…and probably others in the state.”

The gentleman seated in front of me seemed to agree.

“This had to be a major attack if both Minneapolis and St. Paul are out.” he added.

Our cab got into a long line of cars already entering the interstate. It was as if we were part of a funeral procession and the whole state had been invited. Once on the interstate we crept along for about a mile for what seemed like an hour and then I saw it as I looked out my right-side window. Off in the nearby distance, smoke and flames were shooting up from a large building ahead. I turned my head back to glance out the cab’s rear window. I caught a glimpse of the airport we just left. There were flames with black and gray smoke billowing from what appeared to be the airport’s main terminal. I saw police and news choppers darting around the moonless night sky. I quickly turned my head forward again toward the building we were approaching. This time I caught what looked like red and orange flames coming from the front.

Holy mackerel, I thought, is that the Mall of America?

Yes Al Gore, it is a Great Day for America

trump

President Trump announced recently the US is pulling from the Paris Climate Agreement.  Al Gore announced this was a bad day for America.  Who’s right?

A quick look at world views gives us insight.

Al Gore the well-known global warming guru in his supposed concern for the earth is always quick to criticize the United States for pollution while ignoring the incredible amount of abuse that goes on overseas whether it’s dirty air in China or the murder of innocents by Islamic fundamentalists.  Instead Al Gore chooses to worship the creation rather than the Creator.  This practice is predicted in the Bible but where will it end? Without being reconciled to God it means Hell.  But there is hope.

God makes it clear we are to be good stewards of the earth.  But we shouldn’t be hypocritical about it and pretend we have control over everything that happens on earth.  There is someone greater than us.  There needs to be balance and the understanding that God is ultimately in control of the earth. While it’s okay and right to care about our resources it’s another thing to worship the earth while ignoring the murder of the innocent that is happening every single day.

For example, does Al Gore and Hillary Clinton care enough to protect human babies as much as they say they care about earth? Or is the earth more important to them?  Do we care about stopping the abuse and murder of kids, women, Christians and others in Muslim protected nations enough to speak out about it?  Or is the pretending to care about earth more important?   When I hear Hillary or Al Gore speak the truth about the atrocities perpetrated by Islam I will make it known.

President Donald Trump speaks out about the abuses by Muslim nations against the rest of us (aka the Kafir).  Yet the Left rushes to defend the atrocities by not speaking the truth.  My hope is Mr.Trump doesn’t stop with speaking truth but will work to save the persecuted. We know he has shown great support for the unborn and the Left hate him for it.

Does he believe in global warming?  I do hope not but the latest decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord is a good start. We must protect America’s interests first, after all it’s our country to protect and not Europe’s or any other country’s for that matter.  If Europe truly wanted or cared about the truth they would speak out against and work to actually stop the many abuses of earth and man which I have mentioned (here and in previous posts).

Now if Europe or other country of choice are better for you, by all means stop complaining about America and move there. However I highly doubt this to be true because if it were we wouldn’t see the Left fighting so hard to get illegal aliens in here.  If Donald Trump is making America as terrible as the Left tries to make us think they wouldn’t be fighting against a wall to protect our borders.  Instead we would see them run for the border before a wall is built!  It’s not happening because America is still the envy of all nations.
